Green & Black’s Community Development Programme
We're delighted to be working in partnership with Green & Black’s, a brand that shares our passion for working in partnership with rural communities to help identify and create sustainable community, environment and development projects.
The Green & Black’s Community Development Programme was set up to empower Fairtrade cocoa farmers in the Dominican Republic to improve community facilities and add real benefit to their lives.
In April 2011, a team consisting of Green & Black's consumers and staff, local co-opertaive farmers and Raleigh staff worked on the installation of a water system. Read on to see how the expedition team got on.

Out with the old…and in with the new!
Two years down the line, and over 325 successful venturers later, it’s safe to say the Graduate Bursary Award has been a resounding success. But don’t just take our word for it – read about how Amy and Gabriel benefited from the award.
Although the graduate bursary award has now come to a close, we are very pleased to announce that we have just launched a brand new bursary, the Raleigh Bursary Award – and it’s not just for graduates! It’s open to anyone aged 17 to 24 who would find the full fundraising target a challenge due to their financial situation.
So if you, or someone you know could benefit from the funding award, find out how to apply here.

Training our volunteer trainers
Last November, we held a training weekend to reward some of our most committed volunteers, who without which, we would not be able to deliver over thirty training events per year.
It was a great turn out with 20 volunteers getting stuck into various activities and tasks throughout. Read on to find out more.

Climbing mountains for education
As a volunteer manager on Borneo 10D, Graeme Beaven helped build a kindergarten in one of the poorest regions of Malaysia. Inspired by his experience on expedition and wanting to complete his 4th Challenge, Graeme decided to rally (excuse the pun!) expedition friends together to raise money for the building of another kindergarten.
The group of 16 alumni will be racing round Great Britain to complete the Three Peaks challenge in June.
Between them they have taken part in Raleigh expeditions in Namibia, Borneo, India, Costa Rica and Nicaragua including 05E, 08F, 10A, 10C, 10F, 10I and 10J!
Find out more about the challenge or visit their JustGiving page to support the team.

The Light Fund – the licensing industry helping us provide sanitation in India
In 2004, Jakki Brown of Max Publishing set up the Light Fund. A simple idea to bring together a group of friends and colleagues from the licensing industry who want to contribute to UK based charities.
Together, industry colleagues plan a whole series of fundraising events – golf days, quiz nights, award ceremonies – with the proceeds going to a whole range of charities.
And last year, Raleigh was one of the lucky charities to benefit with a donation of £4,750. This generous donation paid for 25 eco-sanitation toilets for a village in the Mysore District of Southern India.
Click here to find out more about the Light Fund, or if you'd like to sponsor any of our programmes, please contact Teresa Fitzgerald at teresa.ftizgerald@raleigh.org.uk or on 020 7183 1296.
